5 Workplace Safety Precautions Employers Need

Did you know that companies in the US on average end up paying $62 billion on workplace injuries? If you are a forman, manager, or owner of a business, your number one priority should be the safety of your employees. That’s why we here at Safety Solutions and Supply have included 5 workplace safety precautions for you to remember.

  • Properly train your employees.
If your employees are properly trained you will have a significantly less chance of any accidents in the workplace. Your employees should be trained on what their job description entails and all the workplace safety protocols that go with their job. This training should happen before the employee begins working, as well as periodically throughout the year for all of your experienced employees.
  • Clean up
The saying goes, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness.” It is so important to have a clean workplace as messy environments easily lead to accidents. Have proper clean up procedures listed around the workplace for spills and storage. Also be sure to check for disorganized tools, tangled cords, or dirty floors.
  • Have emergency procedures in place
Even though we strive for the ultimate safe workplace, accidents do happen. So be sure to have an emergency procedure in place. Your employees should be educated on how to handle situations such as a fire, active shooter, or chemical spill. Be sure they are properly educated how to handle any situation.
  • Make sure you employees have the correct PPE
You employees should also be properly equipped, so be sure they have the correct PPE, Personal Protective Equipment, for their job requirements. This PPE could include goggles, mask, slip resistant shoes, etc. The proper equipment is key to a safe workplace.
  • Have signs and labels in place.
We as humans are often forgetful. Employers can help by placing informational signage around the workplace to remind the employees how to implement a safe workplace.
