We introduce ASHI, the American Safety and Health Institute

SAFETY SOLUTIONS & SUPPLY has had a longtime affiliation with the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI). That relationship expanded recently to include official ASHI certification of our popular Basic First Aid/CPR and AED for Adults training course and credentialing of our course instructors.

For some background, the American Safety and Health Institute is an association of health and safety educators based in Eugene, Ore. It provides certification in lifesaving topics for laypeople, professionals, and organizations that need or want to meet regulatory requirements. ASHI’s flexible certification training programs include CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator), emergency medical responder, basic life support, and advanced cardiac life support.

ASHI was acquired by and now is part of the Health & Safety Institute (HSI) family of brands for workplace safety, training, and emergency-care solutions. AHSI consists of more than 20,000 professional safety and health education members. Founded in 1996 as a partnership of safety and health instructors, ASHI has developed to include more than 8,000 training centers across the United States and in several other nations.

ASHI Basic First Aid/ CPR and AED for Adults is a four-hour program and the certification is valid for two years. An ASHI-certified representative with Safety Solutions & Supply will teach rescuers to effectively recognize and treat adult emergencies in the critical first minutes until EMS personnel arrive. Safety Solutions & Supply will provide training at an organization’s facility or at our state-of-the-art facility. Training is based on an organization’s scheduling needs; training at night or on weekends is available at no extra charge. Students will receive an ASHI certificate and card upon successful completion of both classroom and practical examinations.

First Aid, CPR, and AED for Adults offers student a comprehensive and engaging opportunity to learn critical information to help save a life. The course format includes video-based instruction, group discussion, and hands-on practice.

In some industries and occupational settings, first aid, CPR and AED training is required by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The OSHA standard requires employers to ensure the ready availability of medical personnel for advice and consultation on matters of plant health (OSHA 1910.151a). In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital close to the workplace, OSHA requires that someone or more than one person be adequately trained at the workplace to render first aid. In this scenario, OSHA also requires that adequate first aid supplies be readily available (OSHA 1910.151b).

The next opportunity for training in ASHI Basic First Aid/ CPR and AED for Adults will be July 21, from 8 a.m. to noon, at Safety Solutions & Supply in Mulberry, Fla. The class is limited to 10 students and the cost is $51 per person. To learn more about the training and to register, give us a call at 1-866-537-2262.
