Keep Toy Safety in Mind This Holiday Season

We’re in the thick of the holiday season, and everyone is in the giving spirit. At Safety Solutions & Supply, we want to remind you to please take into consideration the safety and age range of the gifts you are giving.

December has been pronounced as the Safe Toys and Gifts Awareness Month by Prevent Blindness America as they are encouraging everyone to think about the age, skills, and abilities of the child you are giving a gift to.
Safety Solutions & Supply wants you and your loved one to be safe this holiday season, so please use the following guidelines when you buy gifts this year.
Give the Gift of Safety
1.) Inspect the toy.
Check the item for sharp edges or detachable parts. You should also check the sturdiness of the toy to see whether it is durable or can easily be pulled apart.
2.) Consider the abilities of the child.
If your child has any special needs, be aware of the sounds or movements that may set them off. Also, check the size of the toy to make sure the child will able to play with it comfortably.
3.) Check the label.
Make sure your item has passed a safety inspection. If you see the letters “ASTM,” that means the toy has passed the American Society for Testing and Materials standards.
4.) Check for lead.
Read all about lead exposure from toys, know the symptoms of led poisoning, and stay up to date on toy recalls.
