FLUSAR Rope Rescue Operations Level I

This course is taught in a five-day open enrollment format and is accredited through the State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training for FLUSAR personnel.

Certification: FLUSAR 40-Hour Rope Rescue Operations Level I

Prerequisite(s): General knowledge of fire service knots.

Class Day/Time: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Course Description: Designed to train rescuers in high and low-angle rescue/recovery. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 Chapters 5 and 6.1.

Learning Objectives: Knowledge of rescue knots, rope systems, anchor systems, raise/lower techniques, ascending a rope, patient packaging, stoke basket operations, rappelling, and rope theory. Emphasis will be placed on safety, lifting, lowering, belay operations, and moving a victim in high/low angle environments. Rope Rescue Level I is a prerequisite for the remaining USAR/TRT courses.

Dress Code: A helmet, boots, gloves, long pants, and a t-shirt are required for practical evaluations.
